The Human Rights Code, the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protect employees and others from discrimination and harassment on the basis of an individual’s or group’s personal characteristics including:

Sex (gender), including sexual harassment and pregnancy;

Sexual orientation;

Gender identity;

Gender expression;

Colour;

Race;

Ethnic origin;

Ancestry;

Place of origin;

Citizenship;

Creed (religion);

Family status (being in a parent-child relationship);

Marital status (the status of being married, divorced, separated, single or widowed);

Age;

Record of offences (a criminal record for which you have been pardoned), and

Receipt of public assistance (only applies to the social area of housing).

Denis Chubar graduated from RUDN University (Moscow, Russia) with High Honors in 2007. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law and Public Administration (with High Honors) and has a diploma as an Interpreter from German Language (with Honors). He also has a Paralegal Diploma from Seneca College. He is certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution and a Member in Good Standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
